NCI Celebrates 25th Anniversary
On Saturday 14th September Needles NCI celebrated the 25th anniversary of the founding of the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) with a traditional Tea Party for watchkeepers and partners. It was held at the lookout above the iconic Needles where they have maintained a watch for the past 7 years.
They were honoured with the presence of H.M. Lord Lieutenant Mrs Susie Sheldon who cut the celebration cake.
Nationally the NCI was involved in 487 incidents of which 20 involved Needles watchkeepers.
It maintains 56 stations around our coast with 2614 volunteer watchkeepers committing to 131667 hours.
